Fall in Adams Morgan: Apples,
Music and a Place to Stay

DC Adams Morgan neighborhood
Words by Kelly K

Some neighborhoods mark fall with a pumpkin spice latte. Adams Morgan throws two block parties and invites everyone.

On Saturday, October 24, the Apple Festival sets up on the LINE DC’s front steps with heirloom tastings, a homemade pie contest, and neighbors who take their crust seriously. On Saturday, November 7, Fall PorchFest hands the neighborhood over to local bands, who play from porches and storefronts until the whole place sounds like someone spinning a radio dial.

Both are free. Both are homegrown, organized by the Adams Morgan Partnership. They’re the Adams Morgan fall events worth planning a trip around. Come for one, then stay for the street life that happens around it. From the LINE DC, one festival starts at the front door and the other starts a block away. That means coffee before, a drink after, and no parking to think about.

An Apple Morning in Adams Morgan

Saturday, October 24, 2026. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Set an alarm. The pie will not last until 1.

Licking Creek Bend Farm drives in with heirloom apples, the kind with names and opinions. Some are tart enough to wake you up. Some taste like they were grown for pie. Tasting your way down the table is how you find out which camp you’re in.

Then there’s the contest. Neighborhood bakers bring their homemade pies to be judged by local leaders, and slices go to support Platform of Hope while they last. Local businesses join in with fall specials for the day.

The Adams Morgan Farmers Market runs the same Saturday morning across the street in Unity Park, so make it a loop: apples, then the market stalls, then whatever you can still carry. There are no tickets, no wristbands, and no lines to get in. It’s just a neighborhood morning with a sweet tooth.

Music Around Every Corner at Fall PorchFest

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from noon to 5 p.m., Adams Morgan PorchFest turns the neighborhood into one long, loose setlist. More than 100 bands play across 25-plus stages: porches, storefronts, patios, and community spaces. It’s free. There are a few main stages, but the real show is on the porches.

Grab the map and lineup from the Adams Morgan Partnership and circle two or three sets you won’t miss. Then put the map away for a while. The good part of PorchFest is what you hear before you see it. A horn section somewhere down a side street. A voice and an acoustic guitar drifting off a rowhouse porch. A crowd that wasn’t there five minutes ago, now spilling onto the sidewalk and nodding along.

Follow the sound. Duck into a shop between sets. Find something warm to hold. Pick up a free wristband at an info booth, and dozens of neighborhood businesses will knock something off your order. New this year, a pre-holiday vendor market brings vintage, crafts, and local makers, so you can get a head start on gifts. By late afternoon, you’ll have a favorite corner you never would have found on your own.

Between the Market and the Music

Treat each festival as its own day out. Here’s what to do with the hours around them.

After the apples. Take your coffee to Tryst on 18th Street, find a couch, and stay longer than you meant to. Then walk up the block to Idle Time Books. Go in for one book. Leave with three.

Around the music. Dig through the crates at Smash! Records between sets. When your feet need a break, head to Columbia Road for a plate of mantu at Lapis. If the night runs long, end it the way Adams Morgan always has: a Jumbo Slice, folded in half, eaten on the sidewalk.

Fall is just one season here. Our guide to things to do in Adams Morgan covers the rest of the year.

Make Adams Morgan Your Base

The LINE DC lives inside a 1912 church on Euclid Street, a block from the action on 18th. On Apple Festival morning, the walk home with a pie is about twenty steps.

On festival days, No Goodbyes bookends everything. Coffee and breakfast come before the crowds. Dinner and a drink come after they thin out, when the neighborhood exhales and you’re ready to argue about whose pie should have won. See what’s on at our restaurants and bars.

Upstairs, your room is the place to drop off the apples, warm your hands, and decide whether you’re going back out. (You are.)

Leave the car. PorchFest organizers ask guests not to drive, and the neighborhood is easier on foot anyway. DC fall mornings start crisp and the afternoons warm up, so dress in layers.
