The highly anticipated new contemporary art galler

The highly anticipated new contemporary art gallery Jonathan Carver Moore (@jonathancarvermoore) opened last Thursday, immediately adjacent to the LINE SF. The line to get in, which stretched down the block and past the @tenderheart.sf patio, served as an impromptu runway, while inside, the eponymous gallerist welcomed people from across the San Francisco art scene, museum directors, curators, and artists alike. When the gallery closed, the buzzy soirée made its way into the lobby and soon-to-open Dark Bar.

The opening showcased the gallery's inaugural exhibition, The Weight of Souls, a collection of mixed-media works by Bay Area artist Kacy Jung (@kacy_jung). The exhibition is Jung’s response to the societal pressure she's received as a woman, an Asian immigrant, and a former scientist — as well as her own healing and self-redefinition. The exhibition is on view until April 15th.

Jonathan Carver Moore is a contemporary art gallerist who specializes in working with emerging and established artists who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women. As the only openly gay, Black male-owned gallery in San Francisco, Jonathan is committed to amplifying the voices of often-underrepresented artists through a Black queer lens. He believes in community and accessibility. Whether for a novice or an avid collector, Jonathan’s keen vision helps him advance the beauty of diversity in all aspects of the art world.
