WPA Live Series: Cissa Paz Band
In partnership with Washington Performing Arts’ Mars Urban Arts Initiative, we were thrilled to host Cissa Paz Band for a live performance in Full Service Radio at the LINE DC on March 16, 2019. With the station doors open wide (and the music of Brazilian singer-songwriter Cissa Paz streaming throughout the hotel), dancing broke out in the lobby, Christylez Bacon stepped up to the mic for a song, and a good time was had by all.
Cissa Paz is an eclectic performer influenced by the local jazz sounds of Washington, DC, and her Brazilian, African, and Indigenous background. Born in Belgium and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Paz has released multiple albums, and performs in Portuguese, Portuguese Creole, Spanish, French, and English. The Mars Urban Arts Initiative (MUAI) is a creative platform for Washington Performing Arts and the D.C. community to celebrate and empower local artists through performances, unique educational programs, and interdisciplinary grassroots collaborations that showcase the diversity and vitality of our city.
