For the second summer in a row, Aura Aura (@weareauraaura) is popping up at the LINE DC. An experiential portrait practice from Detroit-based conceptual artist and energetics researcher Eileen Lee, Aura Aura’s sold-out summer tour stops in for a residency next week in Adams Morgan.

As a preview, we’ve pulled out Jack Inslee's (@jackinslee) conversation with Eileen (that's her on the last slide) from last summer to hear about her aura portraiture practice, how aura photography works and what it’s all about, and why green emerged as one of the key aura colors out coming out of the pandemic.

On the first Sunday of every month, the BSC hosts Feel Better Look Better, a new series of mixers to bring the interior and exterior selves together, and, fittingly, the events take the inside of Room 326 — chair and all — outdoors to Gramercy Garden. Jonathan Carver Moore’s most prominent quality, said longtime friend and local curator @pjpolicarpio, is an enthusiasm for advocacy and building community. “You see someone who’s really dynamic and really fills up a room,” the curator said, “but also makes sure to share that light.”

When @jonathancarvermoore opened the doors on his eponymous gallery storefront on a Thursday evening in the spring, an unexpected crowd of 350 or so artists, curators, museum directors, and art patrons formed a line down the block, dispelling any doubts as to what’s happening in San Francisco. “There’s community here,” Carver Moore said on his first official day of business. “I saw it last night.”
