Around here, the weather might not get cooler and the leaves may not change color right away, but you feel the energy of Fall as a chill buzz making its way to the LINE Austin. With the new work from artists Elizabeth Chiles and Adrian Armstrong to admire in our gallery and artist studio, new happy hours to enjoy in less-than-100-degree-heat on the porch at P6 or at the bar in Arlo Grey, moody poolside hangs with the Secret of Manna and SHED Grill Pop Up giving extra shine to that smile and more, find a way to chill out at the LINE, even when it’s not outside.
ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE: ADRIAN ARMSTRONG
Adrian Armstrong is a multidisciplinary creative from Omaha, NE now living and working out of Austin, TX. Armstrong received his BFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2014. He is also the co-founder of Brown State of Mind, an Austin based organization dedicated to pursuing the interests of creatives of color and their ideas. Through portrait and figurative practices, Armstrong’s work explores identity and what it means to be a black person living in modern America. His work touches on topics such as depression within the black community, systematic oppression, and police brutality; but on the other side of the spectrum explores fashion, love, success, and growth. Stop by during his Open Studio Hours Tuesdays 5PM – 8PM, Thursdays 2PM – 5PM, Saturdays 5PM – 7PM, and join us for his final artist talk with Big Medium in October.
ELIZABETH CHILES POP UP
The work of Elizabeth Chiles explores the intersection of physical and subjective worlds through abstract photographic collage, natural pigment painting and writing. In addition to creating a collection of exclusive works for LINE Austin Guest Rooms, Chiles will now be showing a collection of her work in our East Gallery through December.
