Join us in the 2nd Floor Studios to celebrate the closing of Farangiz Yusupova’s artist residency, the first of this year’s series with Big Medium.
Born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and based in Austin, Farangiz has shown in galleries from New York City to South Korea. Deeply informed by her experience both growing up in Central Asia and immigrating to New York, Farangiz’s work investigates the intersection of personal experiences and historical context through references to Indo-Persian miniature paintings, Soviet Brutalist architecture, Islamic art, communism, and nomadism. Farangiz has participated in the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, CICA Art Festival in South Korea, and NYFA’s Immigrant Artist Mentorship Program. She holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and lives and works in Austin, Texas.
Farangiz Yusupova’s works are on display in the East Lobby Gallery. More information about the Big Medium x LINE Artist Residency can be found HERE.
