Queer Tango Practica
01/12, 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Fishnets and suits are great, but for Tango Mercurio, tango is really about connection–with self, partner, community, and culture. The experience of connection can be meaningful and valuable between any two people. In recent decades, Queer Tango has developed as an international movement to experience tango free from traditional gender norms and binaries.
Tango Mercurio’s Queer Tango program seeks to create a safe, inclusive space to dance whatever role(s) you like with whomever you like. All sexual identities and orientations are welcomed and supported. Dancers are encouraged study of both roles, role-switching, and dancing with a variety of partners. Ultimately, Tango Mercurio hopes to foster an inclusive DC tango community while deepening our understanding of ourselves.
Join in on the first Queer Tango Practica at the Adams Morgan Community Center on January 12th from 2-5pm. This is a free practica, open to all tango dancers. Tango Mercurio instructors will be onsite to answer any questions and help your tango grow.
This event is free and open to all.
