Join us on the front steps of the LINE DC to learn traditional drumming techniques, patterns, and a cultural drumming rhythm with active veteran drummer Yuma “Docta Yew” Bellomee, a certified holistic health consultant and herbalist.
Originating in West Africa, the djembe is a hand drum, and the dunun is a rope-tuned cylindrical drum played with a stick. Traditionally, these and other drums are played in an ensemble and to accompany dancers at celebrations for events like births, harvests, initiation rites, and more.
